Small-Appliance Compliance in Uzbekistan
Electric fans, evaporative air coolers, humidifiers, space heaters and electric kettles have different technical characteristics and risks. Not every appliance with a water tank is a humidifier, and equipment that delivers cooler-feeling air is not necessarily an air conditioner. An oversimplified commercial name can lead to incorrect standards, customs classification and consumer information from the outset.

Uzbekistan’s technical-regulation authorities publish technical regulations, conformity-assessment provisions and certificate-register information. Importers need to compare the current rules and mandatory product scope with the actual product to determine whether a certificate, declaration or another procedure applies, and then use a body whose accredited scope covers the work.
Uzbekistan has energy-efficiency labelling and certification arrangements for specified household appliances. Whether a particular small appliance is included, which class or label applies, and how it is presented should be checked against the rules currently in force. The general word “appliance” is not a reason to apply the same energy label to every product.
Language and consumer-information requirements for local retail should be checked before the product is placed on the market. User manuals, labels and accompanying documents need to allow consumers to identify the product, ratings, operation, cleaning, warnings and responsible party. Russian may be useful in parts of the commercial environment, but it should not be assumed to replace requirements for the state language.
The rating label provides durable product identification and normally carries the model, rated specifications, manufacturing information and applicable markings. The retail box presents the goods and selected consumer information. The commercial invoice, packing list and customs documentation identify the shipment and transaction. Their purposes differ, but the product name, brand and model must not contradict one another.
Changes to a motor, temperature controller, heating element, power cord, plug, control board, water pump, insulation material or enclosure can affect safety, performance and existing documents. When a supplier proposes a substitute, record the difference and effective batch before the responsible parties decide whether further samples, testing or documentation are required.
